For Cute!!!

I saw this on Anderson Cooper the other day... and apparently so did many others. It's just about the cutest thing I've ever seen! (Well except for all the ADORABLE things Kitty does of course!) ;)

In other news... on my way to the gym today, I was walking from the parking lot behind a guy smoking. Hmmmm? I bet he had a lovely work out.

Also I have a question for everyone. What does it mean when a streetlight goes out just as you are going under it? I mean, obviously, it's the light going out for whatever reason... but isn't there something else? Like if you feel a shiver- someone is walking over your grave. Or if your ears are ringing- someone is talking about you. Doesn't it mean something??? I've had it happen to me in the last two days and I can't think what this means! I hope it's good whatever it is... Gilly! :}

This is what I watched while working out tonight... Yay! (And the guy from Counting Crows was there!!!) ;)

Memory Monday

So this memory is brought to you by the letters T and T. It is one involving an old roommate of mine- Terra Hatch.

I don't have any pictures of her, but she was adorable of course! She was this little bitty thing, who laughed at everything.

Sometimes in the evening I would get tired of studying and so I would "rest" for a bit. Usually I was on the bean bag chair we owned. What better place to rest... I mean study!

One night, as I was taking a few moments to let what I had learned seep in, out of nowhere I hear the loudest

TAMMY!!!!!!!

Yes, my sweet, sweet Terra thought it would be SO funny to scare the tar out of me. Holy smokes! I don't think I could breath for a good ten minutes. She and my other roomies found it hysterical, and couldn't stop laughing. I wasn't too amused at first, but after some time, I giggled about it too. And now that I look back on it, it was a great joke. One I hope I can play on someone someday!

As a result, I never "rested" again while Terra was in the room. She said she wouldn't do anything, but how can you believe someone who would do that?!? ;)

Sunset Sunday

Sorry I missed the past two days... but sometimes my friends keep me out too late. With visions of hockey, IHop and Sushi in my head (not all at the same time mind you!) it's hard to do anything but go straight to bed. But isn't that better than just sitting at home writing on a blog??? I declare yes! And good times were had by us all.

But I'm here with you tonight... and I have a something for you to give some thought to this snowy winter's night. (Yay for soft fluffy snow... but NO carols yet!!!) :)

An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some orange and lime trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond; as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five- gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. Nearing the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, 'we're not coming out until you leave!' The old man frowned, 'I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked...' Holding the bucket up he said, 'I'm here to feed the alligator.'

Some old men can still think fast.

I hope we all can be fast thinkers when we're all grown up.

(I didn't say my Sunday thinking had to always be serious!) :)

Have a good week. And Happy Birthday Jonny and Maggie!

The ABC's I'm thankful for...

Thanksgiving is next Thursday, as we all know, and so I'm going to tell the ABC's of what I'm thankful for. (I saw this on my friend Melissa's blog and thought it was pretty cool.)

America. I know everyone says it... but I don't think it's one of those 'thankfuls' that ever gets cliche. How can every single one of us not be thankful for our freedom and all that America gives us???

Books. Not only because they give me a job ;), but because they take me to so many places and help me take a break from life.

Co-workers. Really, sometimes I don't know how we would get through a day without each other.

Dessert. Sometimes you just have to have it before dinner. It just makes you feel good.

Each time I come home and Kitty greets me at the door. I know it's silly, but who doesn't want to feel welcome and wanted.

Family and friends... which in some cases are the same thing.

George Clooney. :) Just looking at him makes me happy. And why not. I'm a simple girl, with simple needs. It makes life easier!

Hot drinks... especially steamers! Mmmmm! They are yummy and make you feel all cozy and good inside when everything else is so cold.

Internet. E-mails. Blogs. Hulu! Sites that have celebrity gossip...

Journals. They not only allow you to say everything you want to say, but they are fun to look back on and see all the great AND ridiculous things you did. And all the crazy boys you liked!

Kitty. Which I know sounds silly... but she is my best company sometimes. She makes me laugh and listens so intently when I need to vent. With hardly any backtalk!

Libraries. All the free books you could want!

Movies. For two hours, or so, I can think of nothing else but someone else's life. Not that mine is so dramatic... but that's just it. Sometimes other's lives are so much more fun. Or scary, or sad, or whatever... But it's not my life, and so I don't have to think about it too much.

Night rides. There is something about driving/ riding in the night that makes everything so much clearer. And easier. And fun.

Ovens. Especially the microwave kind! ;)

Pictures. There is nothing better then looking back at adventures I've had. Such fun memories.

Quilts. So warm and cuddly. Especially when reading, or watching a movie, or when you find that just right spot when going to sleep.

Rain. It smells good. It's fun to play in (when it's not too cold.) It sounds relaxing. And storms are great to watch! And afterwards, it makes everything pretty.

Spaghetti and sandwiches. Two of my most favorite meals! Yum.

TV. It's where some of my loveliest friends live! ;)

Unicycles. They must make you feel brave and safe all at the same time.

Vacations. Sometimes so needed and necessary. Sometimes fun and necessary. Sometimes not necessary... but what great memories they make!!!

Watermelon. Just cause it's good.

Xylophones. Without them, I would never have been in Marching Band, therefore never had as much fun in High School as I did. Meeting Kristyn. And Heather. And then where would I be today???

You. You obviously must be awesome if you are reading my blog. I mean, you have me for a friend! ;) But really, the majority of you who read my blog mean a lot to me for some reason or another... and I'm very blessed to have so many good people in my life. From all over!

Zzzzzz... I stole it from Melissa, but it's true. Sometimes sleep is the most lovely thing out there. Ahhh.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Things That Made Me Laugh This Week...

10. Getting a text from Danny and not having a CLUE what he was talking about. (I finally figured it out!)

9. Kitty running all over the wood floor and slipping. (And yet she gets up and keeps running more!)

8. Dancing for Pam and Steve at work, not knowing there was a customer right behind me.

7. Bek Shmek and I leaving very long voicemails for each other. AND giggling about things that were about to happen.

6. Walking down the street and getting "attacked" by a branch outside.

5. The fact that Jonny and I always end our conversations by him getting my car and Kitty. That, and that we really don't agree on anything! ;)

4. Re-reading all the awesome video ideas Jake and I want to make... at 1 o'clock in the morning! (I couldn't sleep last night.)

3. Trevor inhaling the buffet like we only had 5 minutes to eat rather than 5 HOURS!!!

2. The way Sarjane and I say good morning to each other everyday.

1. THE OFFICE!!!! WOO HOO!

Memory Monday

I'm sorry.
I told a very good friend of mine that I would stop being such a slacker, and get back to writing everyday like I promised I would at the beginning. It's not that hard, and I like doing it. I'm just a little lazy sometimes. But that's no excuse. So here we go...

This memory is one I shared with my Bek Shmek a few days ago, and it's stuck and keeps making me laugh. Mainly because I keep seeing signs of eggnog everywhere. Oh eggnog!

So quite a few years ago when I was living in St George, I came up north, or to the SLC area with my good friends Dan and Freddy. At this point in our lives, Dan and Freddy and I were joint at the hip. We did pretty much everything together and they were at our house basically from the moment they were done with work till it was time to go to bed. Our bedtime, not a reasonable person's bedtime... (But we had such fun shows to watch!!!)

Back to the memory. So I came up with Dan and Freddy for Thanksgiving. (I felt this was appropriate for this time of year.) At first we met up with Dan's dad and had a yummy dinner at the Golden Corral. This was my first experience there and as much as I love food, it was perfect. So we stuffed ourselves and continued on with our adventure. We were going to stop by and say hi to Buddy Jared and then meet up with Dan's dad again at his house and have more Thanksgiving with him and Dan's grandma. (You can never have too much Thanksgiving.)

K, this is where the funny comes in. So the whole trip (We'd travelled up the day before and stayed at Dan's sister's house that was empty, but free and not a hotel!) we'd been drinking eggnog. I'm pretty sure that after that trip, we all took a break from it, because we drank it that much! At this time though, we wanted it all we could get.

We were setting the table to have dinner with Grandma and helping get the food together. I'm not sure who started getting the eggnog out, but Grandma told us to put it away and that we couldn't have any until we finished our dinners! She was VERY firm with that. What?!? Eggnog was to be had with dinner, not afterwards. But Grandma would have nothing to do with it. So, being the good kids that we are, we left it at that.

Well apparently finishing your dinner means FINISHING YOUR DINNER... at least for Grandma. And nothing was going to happen till Freddy at his vegetables. Only Freddy didn't like the vegetables we were having. After waiting and waiting, Grandma got up for some reason or another and Dan and I yelled at Freddy to just eat his veggies. He wouldn't do it. So, being the resourceful young lady I am, I grabbed my napkin and scooped up Freddy's vegetables, putting them in my pocket. (Yes, people do do this...)

Finally, we could have our eggnog! Yay!!!

It really was so funny. And to this day Dan and I still reminisce about Grandma and her vegetables. Of course now we drink our eggnog WITH dinner... but a good lesson was learned that day:

Not that it's important to eat your vegetables, though it is, but GRANDMAS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT! (Whether you agree or not.)

Silly Grandma. :)

Memory Monday

This memory only happened a month or so ago... but it was funny, and I want to share it with all of you!

It happened at work, which seems to be the place to get fun material as of late. I don't know, apparently the crazies are out this time of year. With the lovely weather, have they nothing better to do???

This memory is not about a crazy though. It's about an adorable little girl and her mom.

They were in the children's area shopping when the little girl picked up a book and informed her mom that they needed to get it for their cat. Mom's reply was that their kitty probably wouldn't want that book. The little girl said that she would because the book was about a cat. (Silly mom, cat's like books about themselves!!!) Mom then stated that she didn't think the kitty could even read... and this is where the WONDERFUL reply comes. What made this conversation so wonderful and makes me smile still. She said this:

"Mom. Of course she can't read. She's a CAT!" Very exasperated that her mother would even THINK such a thing! C'mon Mom!!! Oh the thinking that children think...

Top Ten Tuesday

K, I'm behind... sorry.

Here are the Top Ten things I want to tell you about....

10. I was a Q-tip for Halloween. It was awesome! Everyone at work loved it, and I'm sure you will too. I'll post pictures soon...

9. I went and had yummy dinner with my very good friend Carrie and her family and played Halloween games with the kids. My partner was Sophie, and she is 6. She was bossy and lovely. (Yes, when you are 6 those two go together!)

8. After WAY too many years, I broke my glasses and have to get a new pair. They are ordered, and when they come in, I'll take a picture and show them off to you. I hope they are really oK. The girl at the eye place said they were cute. I believe her only because the pair I showed her before she didn't like... I hope she wasn't lying because she's so jealous of me and wants me to be ugly! I didn't think of that... Hmmm... I should have brought one of you!

7. I love the show "Community"! It is SO funny. Not as much as "The Office"... c'mon! But it's a good lead in. Yay for Chevy Chase being back on TV!!!

6. I'm having dinner with my BFF Bek Shmek tonight! Yum! We haven't had a girl's night in so long, and I'm very excited for it. We're going to do hair and make-up and nails and prank people and probably TP a house or two...

5. I got an e-mail today that says I won the lottery in South Africa! Yay! I already invited someone to go with me to collect, but if he backs out, any takers? Or you can come along with us!!! If I've won the lottery, I'm sure I can afford tickets for many!

4. I'm still trying to think of themes for Thursday and Saturday if anyone has any suggestions...

3. I joined a gym and am going to start working out again... yes, I said again. I'm excellent at starting out again. I hope to keep it up this time. Maybe if I have to report to all of you it will happen. Maybe.

2. They have pomegranate 7-Up now and it's DELICIOUS!!! I highly recommend you get some yourself. OR if you need a hot drink, go to Starbucks and get the Pumpkin Spice steamer. Yum!

1. And the story you have all been waiting for....

So my friend Tiff and I went to the Annual Nielsen Family Haunted Forest. It was great fun! They do an amazing job every year!!! I'm not a fan of haunted houses or forests or any of that stuff... but I've been before, and Jasen promised it would be family friendly. It was good. Just a little scary here and there. Nothing to make me cry.

Well Tiff and I were making it through just fine. We slipped at one point, but just because it was a little wet and slippery. No big deal.

Half way through we get to this one part where a monster is walking at us. From my view in the front, all I can see is the monster and bushes and blocked off areas. I couldn't figure out where to take us next! My thoughts were the monster guy would eventually move away and then we would go by him... but he wasn't moving!!! So I just stood there, because I wasn't getting too close to him.

Suddenly we hear this chain saw go off behind us!!! Tiff apparently wants nothing to do with chainsaws and so she PUSHES ME DOWN and takes off the stairs I didn't see to my left! I'm not kidding. She literally PUSHED ME DOWN and took off running! It was awesome!!! I couldn't stop laughing. I got up and ran up the stairs after her. She stopped about half way and waited for me to catch up. We then made it through the rest of the forest, laughing the whole time. Perhaps it was the laughter that got us through...

Either way, it was my best Halloween experience ever! Thanks Tiff.

And now I think you are all caught up on my life.

The End :)

Tomorrow I'll also tell you more about getting pushed down at the Haunted Forest. I think that will be great for Memory Monday. Sure it wasn't that long ago, but it's a great memory I'm going to have for a LONG LONG time!!!

As for today... this is what I want you all to think about. It's November. Thanksgiving time. SO.....

Friday Fellow the 9th

Today's Friday Fellow isn't a villain or even terrifying, but he is the star of a few of my most favorite "scary" movies. He's the good kind of scary. The kind where you feel comfortable, but still a little nervous. The kind where you can actually hold a boy's hand or eat popcorn because you don't have to cover your eyes or plug your ears. The kind where bumps in the night, while watching the movie, make you jump, but you can still go to the bathroom by yourself.

His movies are just fun. And he's pretty darn handsome if I do say so myself!

Hip hip hooray for....

JIMMY STEWART!!!

(Sorry this is a short one... but I just got back from a fun filled night at Jasen's Haunted Forest with Tiff! I'll tell you more about it tomorrow, but just know- she pushed me down and ran off to get away from the bad guys! Not kidding!!!)

Memory Monday

I know you have all been waiting for this moment all week. My scary story for this lovely Halloween week! I can't believe only one more week to celebrate the best time in the world... :( Sigh... at least there are some good times coming up to help let go of the post-Halloween blues.

But! We are still part of the fun that is Halloween... so here is a real life scary story. oK, it won't be that scary for you, but for some reason, it freaked out Hi-D, Djinn and I!

A preface for this story is that at this time in our lives, Hi-D, Djinn and I would often go and visit the lovely apartment #42. They were a great bunch of guys and we had many a good time with them!

One evening as we were over there, the boys were already in the middle of watching "Carrie", the crazy movie based off of one of Stephen King's books. I love Stephen King, and it was the TV version, so we thought "Why not?". I mean, how scary can a TV movie be??? Well, apparently VERY scary!!!

The movie freaked us out. Completely. I'm not sure exactly why. It is a little devilish... but not anymore than any of his other movies I don't think. (I can't really say for sure because I refuse to ever watch that movie again. Because of this night. I'm not kidding. Me, the fan of scary movies... never again with this one!)

Well the boys offered to drive us home, which we accepted immediately. We lived across two parking lots from them, and usually we were fine to walk home. Even at night... but like I said, this movie had freaked us out.

Being as we were still scared by the time we got home, we decided to go up to Hi-D and Djinn's room and listen to happy music and try to relax and forget about that terrible things we had just seen. We were doing a pretty good job there for awhile. Granted I put a happy face drawn on a sticky note over the face of Djinn's "Crow" poster, but besides that, we were getting better.

UNTIL... (isn't there always an until???)

Our lights started flickering!!! I'm not kidding. Someone or someTHING was making our lights go on and off. This was the end. We were freaked out completely all over again!!! Djinn and Hi-D were camped out on there beds and I stationed myself by the door. There was NO way I wasn't going to be the first one out the door when the monster came in to get us!

We assumed it was the boys, and called them to tell them it wasn't funny. They promised it wasn't us... but we didn't believe them. The light flickering stopped and we eventually calmed down and relaxed.

The thing is, this was a time way before cell phones were had by all. I don't think anyone of us owned one at the time... or any of our friends really, so when we called and found out they were home, they REALLY had to be home.

As happens, the night continued and we watched cartoons or some such silly thing and finally relaxed. But I promise, we were terrified!!! (We later found out it was a DIFFERENT set of friends who were playing a trick on us by flicking our lights. They had no idea we had just watched a scary movie and were near tears the whole time they were playing with us. They just thought it would be silly fun. Maybe on any other night it would have been.)

I look back now and I'm not so sure how I would react today. Like I said, I have refused to watch "Carrie" ever again. But I've watched other Stephen King movies, and LOVE scary movies on the whole. Maybe it was just the night. Who knows. But I still hold to the fact that that was one of the SCARIEST nights I have ever lived through!!!

And if you will listen to any advice I ever give on this blog... let it be this:

NEVER WATCH CARRIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I can't even put a picture of Carrie up here... that's how I hate it!!! Sorry Steve.)

The End

Sunset Sunday

So my thoughts for you today have to do with Kitty. Not the typical "she's so adorable, listen what she did this time..." way, but more her and really any animal or pet out there.

Kitty's thoughts on life are so simple. Just laying in a ray of sunshine, cuddling up on a cover, or getting a taste of some yogurt is what makes her the happiest. And if she gets cranky, she gives a yell and off she goes to be by herself. Why can't life be that simple for us? Why can't we just let go of things with a simple yell. Or just be happy that the sun is shining on our faces?

Instead we have to keep thinking about what all of our next steps are. We have to over analyze what everything meant or didn't mean. We have to make all of adventures better than the last.

Don't get me wrong- those are great times too, and I'm the first person to sit down with my friends and over analyze everything a boy said to them! Those are some of my greatest times. But sometimes, just sitting on a bench at the Capitol building and staring at nothing is great.

Sometimes nothing is the most exciting of all...

Find some time do to nothing this week.

I don't know much about him, but I love him all the same. Sometimes you really can have love at first sight! Hmmmm....

I would like to introduce to you

MR. MATTHEW MORRISON!!!!!

I couldn't find any dancing clips... but here he is singing. Yay!

TGIF!!!

Hmmm...

I don't have a theme for Thursdays yet... so I'm just going to share a few videos with you.

The "Shining" is one of the BEST books I've ever read. And a pretty scary movie. It's one of those mess with your mind movies... Good times for Halloween. Here it is with a little twist:

Tee hee hee! And if you haven't seen the Simpson's version of this movie yet... it's a MUST!

And to keep in tune with the Halloween spirit, here's a scary movie I think we should all check out:

And finally, one for the whole family. Oh John Candy... we miss you so!

Memory Monday

This memory goes out to Halloween and my longest-running friend... Kristyn Michelle Hensler Devine! We've known each other for 20 years now... longer than not knowing each other. What good times.

This one was SO scary the night it happened... and sometimes when I think about it... it still gives me a little shiver.

Kristyn lived out in a farm town in New York called Virgil when we were growing up. She lived on a farm and thus had PLENTY of lawn for us to camp out. One night we decided to sleep in the tent out in her front yard. I'm not even sure what frightened us to begin with. We weren't telling scary stories or had just finished a scary movie. I'm sure we were just talking about boys- one of our most favorite topics- that or New Kids On The Block. Probably how we were going to marry them. (Let me throw in that this story takes place when we were in like 10th or 11th grade.)

Well, suddenly Kristyn heard a sound outside and shushed me and herself right up. We just laid there and listened. I'm not sure if we really did hear anything... but we were freaked out enough that we were hearing everything. And while I can't prove it for sure, we were both POSITIVE that we saw a light go over the tent!!! We listened and listened, but still heard nothing.

Our fear now was how were we going to get back in to the house and not get caught by whatever monster or serial killer was out there!!! We did what every girl would do. We grabbed each other's hands and ran into the house at full speed. Remember now, we were just in her front yard and were probably not even 100 yards from her house. The worst thing that could have gotten us was a cow. But we made it inside, closed all the windows and doors and probably didn't get a very good sleep that night. It was the most scared I think we've ever been... well except that time we were running from the pizza guys, but that's a different story in itself! :)

Oh the good times. To this day we still don't know if there was anything there... but we did hear stories of how a killer with a hook was roaming the towns and scratching on car roofs. I'm sure that was it!

Stay tuned next Memory Monday when I tell you about the scariest night I ever had in college involving My Hi-D and Djinn! That one really was a yucky night...

Till then... Happy Halloween!!!

Sunday Sunset

So I've come up with another theme day for me. It's better for me to have themes because then I don't sit all day and wonder what in the world to write about. :) I already have Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Why not a Sunday? I'll think of the other days soon. One of my very good friends Jenny has theme days, and if she doesn't mind.. I'm going to follow suit. Melissa Skinner and I used to have a lunch radio show with themes for each day. We loved it! So here we go...

Sunsets are the time to just sit back and think and not worry about life around you. So with these blogs, I'm just going to throw some things out there for you to think about for the week.

Today I'm just going to give you a few questions to ponder this week...

-- What was the best thing before sliced bread?
-- If a cow laughed, would milk come out her nose?
-- Why is it that I don't ever have to pee at night until I've found the most comfy spot in bed?

A look at my 7th Friday Fellow...

It's been a bit... but I'm back and doing good. And so the tradition must go on!!! (Really, this is my favorite day. How can you not love to talk about cute boys?!?)

Today's Friday Fellow is loved by many, but not more than his lab partner Brain. And me!

Ladies and Gentlemen....

PINKY!!!!!!!

I love him so because he just knows how to have fun. He never gives up, and never lets anything get him down. He knows how to play and have fun, but at the same time, knows when it's time to get to work and try to take over the world!

I try to live life with a carefree attitude and Pinky helps me to remember how to do that. He always knows what Brain is thinking and is never short of a laugh.

(And how can you not love those eyes!)

Hip Hip Hooray for Pinky!

NARF!!!

Yay! It's almost bed time!!!

Dear You All--

I just had a long day at work, and I'm tired. It takes a bit to get the energy back. SO, I'm going to give you three quotes to think about. We haven't done this in a bit. Hope you enjoy them.

Sweet dreams. Sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite!

-- Tams

"A smile happens in a flash, but it's memory can last a lifetime."

Memory Monday

I'm back and alive!!! Sorry to worry you all... I was sick with a terrible head cold that turned into what we believe is bronchitis. Man alive!!! I'm getting better now, but it was no good before. I was having old man coughs and a voice none of you would have recognized. It was quite lovely. But I'm getting better. I still have a cough and not much energy... but I'm on the mend. So on to business! My memory for today...

This story goes back to my college years at SUU. I'm not sure why this one popped into my head... but it's fun!

So we all lived in this lovely apt in Cedar City. It was #1 and it was grand!

One night our dear Melissa decided to make some Lemon Chicken I think it was??? (Melissa? Heidi? Do you remember exactly?) All I know is that all of a sudden we had a crazy grease fire that was going up the cupboards and microwave!!! Whoa!

It wasn't serious enough to call the fire dept, but we did get our next door neighbor to come over and he helped us put it out. Like I said, it wasn't too serious, but I think we all were a little startled. Later, it was very funny! We still don't really know how this all came about.

So there is my fun memory for this Monday. It's not the greatest... but I'm still not up to par. I'm getting there though, and next Monday will crack you up!!!

Tomorrow I shall tell you about my lovely Saturday and my lovely Bek Shmek! So stay tuned...

Happy October!!!

I LOVE October!
I love it because it's time to get out the long sleeved shirts and socks and sneakers out.
I love it because the leaves start changing color.
I love it because you can get all snuggly in your sweatshirts.
I love it because you ONLY have to wear a sweatshirt still.
I love it because Starbucks has Pumpkin Spice Steamers again.
I love it because candy is everywhere.
I love it because football (and by that I mean the NFL) is in full swing again.
I love it because you can wear scarves again.
I love it because scarves are still only a fashion statement at this point.
I love it because TV shows are either already going or starting up again.
I love it because it's not too warm to cuddle.
I love it because Marie Callendar is having Pie Month.

I love it most of all because of this:

Halloween is my most favorite holiday!

I love the scary stories!
I love the scary movies!
I love the decorations!
I love the candy!
I love the donuts!
I love the cider!
I love the ghosts!
I love the witches!
I love the pumpkins!
I love the Jack-o-lanterns!
I love the costumes!
I love the trick-or-treaters!
I love the black cats! (Especially ones with a little white on the bellies and paws...) :)
I DON'T love the haunted houses, but the haunted forests aren't too bad!
I love the scary music! (well maybe not the kids singing...)
I love the ghost hunters!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!

YAY FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!

Memory Monday

I'm going to make Mondays all about my fun memories! And chances are pretty good that you will all be involved at some point or another... Yay you! :)

This first memory only happened a few weeks ago, but it's a funny story that I forgot I wanted to share with everyone. It's one of MANY of my crazy, embarrassing moments. It's really not that embarrassing, but if you know me at all, embarrassing moments are an every day occurrence for me. It's just life, and I actually like it. It gives me something lovely to laugh the day away at. And as most of you also know, I can go on and on about something all day long.

So this funny memory happened at the bookstore.

I have to preface this story by telling you that we have an intercom system at the store. To call someone we just hit the intercom button and then the extension for whatever area we want. My lunch time was coming up and so I jumped on to call up Jake to come and cover the registers for lunch. Well I THOUGHT that I was hitting the backroom number, only out of habit, I hit the over all store number. Now if I had just called his name, no big deal. I could have covered it up. But no, I can't do it that way. (Actually none of us at the bookstore do it that way.) I, of course, had to sing out his name, "JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!" It wasn't till I was hitting the K that I realized I was singing it over the whole store. Luckily we weren't too busy at the time, and luckily I didn't call him a name. Everyone smiled and it was good times and of course I laughed about it all through my lunch.

So like I said before, this is just a typical moment in my life. But it was good times. Yay for being silly!

Another Thought From Me...

I'm sure you're all excited to hear what words of wisdom I have sprouting from me this evening... This is more just something I was pondering, rather than anything super significant.

As I was doing my dishes tonight, I realized that I use the exact same 4 or 5 dishes everyday. It's not a bad thing, but it made me start realizing that there are dishes on the bottom of the pile that probably haven't been used in ages! Poor little dishes. They are just as good to eat off as the top guy. Maybe all they want is a good scrubbing also.

So now my questions are... Do I put my freshly washed dishes on the bottom of the pile? Do I rotate the silverware from one end to another? Are those dishes on at the back dusty and I'd have to wash them double?

Yes, this is what I ponder on a Sunday night... I really need a new hobby. ;)

A new fun game!

This past weekend, a bunch of us got together to play games. For some holiday or other, Summer Mull got me the DVD version of "Family Feud".

At first we were all a little hesitant to play... it's Family Feud after all. But we decided to give it a shot and play one round. (After all the "new" Jay Leno show wasn't doing us any good...)
Well one round turned into five! And what fun!!! Seriously, I'm not just saying this to make everyone happy. We really did want to play again and again. And I'm going to just let you know that Jonny and I beat Summer and Liz EVERY time! I think it's because we're AWESOME... though Jonny thought that maybe it was just because the others were not so much. ;)

Either way- get this game and play it! You will love it, I promise!!! I'm not going to lie. John Hurley is a goofy host, and some of the answer choices are ridiculous... but all in all, a VERY good time! And if any of you would like to challenge Jonny and I, just let me know. (For the record, we beat Summer and Liz by HUNDREDS of points! I'm not kidding.)

My 6th Friday Fellow

Today's Friday Fellow is not only a favorite of mine, but of another favorite-- my Kaycee! In the past we've had long discussions about how I'm going to find him and marry him and live happily ever after. Not necessarily for me... but for her! (And whether or not this last sentence is true is up to you to decide.) ;)

So without further ado... I present to you Kaycee and Tammy's most favorite Friday Fellow:

JOSHUA JACKSON!!!!!!!!

Since the beginning of time (and by that I mean "Dawson's Creek", we were always on Team Pacey! Dawson who?!? And not only is he cute, but he's funny and sarcastic. Who doesn't love that?!? It's one of our favorites!

And what is even better about JJ is that I ACTUALLY got to meet him. In real life!!!

Here's what happened:

So as many of you know, I interned with David Letterman back in 2001. On a very "special episode" JJ was going to be a guest. Yay! Now from day 1, we were told that there was no meeting the guests or mingling of any sort. If you saw them, you could say a quick hello, but of course we had to be professional about it.

Now before you get too worried, I didn't go nuts and embarrass us all. But I WAS determined that I was going to meet Mr. Joshua Jackson! I mean c'mon! How could I not! I loved him THAT much!

Working in the audience department, I had become good friends with the security. Let me just tell you this is proof positive that you want to make friends with everyone and anyone you can! I went and told them my woes and pleas, and low and behold... my secret meeting with JJ was going to happen!

Not only did they sneak me into the green room to meet him, but they even took a picture of us for me! They are my most favorite guys ever!!! And we all swore each other to secrecy. (Of course now I can tell you... it was 8 years ago. Who's going to know?)

As I've stated previously on this blog- the picture is horrible, or I would post it on today's entry... but I have it and to me, it's lovely. And the memories are AMAZING! Yay. He was nice as nice can be. For the whole 2 minutes we talked... I'm pretty sure he let a tear drop fall when I had to leave as he realized he would probably never see me again.

Sure he's with that Diane girl now... the one who stars in movies with Brad Pitt, but I know deep down inside he's still wondering where that intern from David Letterman is. Maybe someday he'll run across my blog and hunt me down. If Kaycee and I have anything to do with it... it's a done deal! :)

So this Friday Fellow goes out to you Kayc! I love you dearly and hope you are doing well. Let's get together soon for a Dawson's Creek Marathon. OR we can watch some "Fringe"! (We can turn the sound off so you won't be scared!)

Happy Friday everyone!

Some things to think about...

Here are three things to ponder over...

1. Why do customers at bookstores (or any store for that matter, I'm sure) think they know how to run the store better than those of us who work there 8 hours a day all week long?

2. If we REALLY landed on the moon, why haven't we been there in the last few decades?

AND...

3. What WOULD you do for a Klondike bar?

Something to smile at...

I’m a bit tired tonight… so I’m going to leave you with something just fun. A Deep Thought by Jack Handy. I used to read these on my morning show all the time. I’m not sure if they were funny to everyone, or just to us, but here’s one for your reading pleasure. I guess you can decide. Here is one of our favorites:

(Please put on some lovely background music while reading this…)

I remember that fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. “You don’t have to tell me,” I said, “I’m off the team, aren’t I?”

“Well,” said Coach, “you never were really on the team. You made that uniform you’re wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times.”

It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought, something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that’s when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Oh the Bookstore...

One of the funniest parts of my job is the customers. We have our usual's (Crazy Check Lady, The Goob, and Bonnie- all nicknames we've made up for a few of them). Then we have the delightful ones who just can't remember the author's name and then they are good to go. THEN we have the one's who feel like they are the rulers of the world. They know everything- even though we all work there everyday. I had one such customer today...

We have member cards at the store. If you have forgotten to bring in your card, then we'll very nicely look it up with your phone number. If you can't remember which phone number it's under, I'm sorry to hear that, but it's all I can do. It's not because I'm lazy and don't want to search. I search all day long for things. It's what I do. It's just that I don't have the capability to do so.

Well, said customer couldn't remember what number his card was under. We tried and tried and none of the numbers would work. He then repeatedly asked me if we could look it up under his name, address... etc. I answered him each time by saying that we could ONLY look it up under a phone number. Well he threw his magazines down at me and said that we had just lost a sale and he would never be shopping with us again! I love when customers "threaten" us with this. As if our whole business depends on just them. And where else are you going to buy your gunslinger magazines my friend?!? I just smiled and politely told him to have a good day.

It really is so funny that people think we should know all their info. As if when they got pulled over by a police officer and he asked for their license you could say to him "I don't have it. Could you look it up under my address?"

This is a daily occurrence and I wouldn't even bother writing about it, except for what happened next. The man came back in and said he had a few more numbers to try. Apparently "never" was only a few minutes for him. We tried those numbers and one did work, but it was expired! Ha! He didn't have time to set up a new account (it takes about 30 seconds) but politely said he would be back another day. He said he had a very important meeting he had to now rush to. (And he still didn't want to buy the magazines.)

But wait! There's more! A few minutes later he came back AGAIN and said he was ready to sign up and get his magazines. It was great!!! I guess that meeting was shorter than he thought. While we were setting him up with a new card and cashing him out, he started up again about how it would be so much better if we had more than one way to cross check him on finding his card. As if little me could change the process of a huge corporation. I'm sure Old Lady Noble will do it immediately. I would LOVE it if I could check another way! Do they think I like to get people's lip?

Oh well, what can you do.

But here's the thing to remember. When you go into a store and give them lip and think your rudeness is going to change it all... it's not. All it's going to do is cause you to be the butt of jokes the whole rest of the night. I promise. What you say affects us for about 1 second... and that's just till we have time to react.

At least he helped me have some fun tonight... :)

My Sunday Mission...

I'm a little bored tonight... so I'm going to see if I can find a TV show that I liked that fits all the letters of the alphabet. Yes, this is a fun game! Try it!

Alias
Bachelor/ Bachelorette
Chuck
Dawson's Creek
Early Edition
Fringe
Gilmore Girls
Heroes
I Love Lucy
JAG
Knight Rider
LOST
MacGyver
Northern Exposure
Office
Pretender
Quantum Leap
Roswell
SNL
The Twilight Zone
Ugly Betty
V
Will & Grace
X-Files
Young Riders
Zoolander (oK, I know that's not a TV show... but I don't know any Z shows. And imagine how funny it would be if it was!)

Some of these shows are a stretch, but who would have thought I would love so many shows that start with the letter "f"???

Because it made me laugh out loud...

So tonight as I was driving home, I started thinking about the week I missed and what I could have done to fill it up. Suddenly, it popped into my mind how I could have combined Wordless Wednesday and my Friday Fellow...

Need I say more...

Fine Friday Fellow The Fifth

So this week's Friday Fellow isn't famous. And probably most of you don't know him. But he's adorable and one of my most favorite people ever! He's as sarcastic as I am and he laughs at my jokes. Two very excellent points in his favor!!!

Today's Friday Fellow is...

My little Andy Nelson Crawford!

He won't see this for two years because he's being amazing and is taking himself on a mission to Denver, CO! Yay for him!!! I already miss him, but I know the two years will fly by. And then soon enough we'll all hear him getting frustrated with us once again because we just aren't getting something right! "People." :)

I'm Baaaaaaaaack...

That was to be read like the girl from Poltergeist.

So I'm finally done moving-- thank you to everyone who helped me! I'm not just saying this, but I FOR SURE couldn't have done it without you!!! My new place is still in boxes, but is 63.21% put together. I just have to work on getting rid of some stuff. Going from a huge place with TONS of closets, to a teeny space with one closet that can't even fit all my clothes... not so good. Though healthy because I really did get rid of junk I didn't need!

And as an update... Kitty is still a bit mad at me! She isn't hissing every time I walk by- but we aren't snuggle buggles yet. We're getting there though- and I'll let you know how it all goes. Oh Kitty my love...

That's really all for now. I need to get boxes unpacked and things on walls... then I'll get some pictures up for all to see!

I Know How He Feels...

After a week of moving and putting everything together... I'm exactly where Tom is:

oK... my new place is nothing like their's... but nothing makes me laugh harder than hearing him laugh at that point. And nothing is better than laughing that hard! Try to prove me wrong...

One Season and Holiday At A Time Please!

Sometimes I just don't understand... Well, that goes for a lot of things, but I have one in particular right now! ;)

How is it that we are seeing Halloween decorations IN AUGUST!!! For Pete's sake! It's not even fall yet and we're already seeing pumpkins and ghosts and sales on Halloween candy?!?

Don't get me wrong. I'm very excited for the fall to come. I love fall! It's my favorite season. Hurray for shorts and sweatshirt weather. Where there is a breeze that lightly blows your hair around and often you can smell rain in the air. I love it all! And I'm a HUGE fan of Halloween! If you've seen my decorations- you would know. Scary stories and music and movies... but no haunted houses please. I love it all.

But like everything, it has it's time and place. And August is not it. NOR is September. So don't think... "well there are only a few more days of August and then we can party!". NO NO NO! October 1st is soon enough. Halloween is the very last day of October, and I think we'll have enough time to celebrate during the month. 31 days to be exact.

So put away the leaves and get out the flip flops because Summer isn't over yet! Long live the Bermuda shorts!!! Woo hoo!

Fourth Friday Fellow

Today's Friday Fellow is an oldie, but a goldie! He's not old.... but he was really big when I was in high school/college and I haven't really seen him in too much lately. Once in awhile he's in a TV movie or starring as an extra on some show. And even as time goes by, he's still pretty dang cute! Some of you know him as Dylan McKay... but we all love and know him as

LUKE PERRY!!!!!!!!
High School:

College:

Today:

Yes... I know he wasn't really those ages when he was in High School and College... but I also know that all you guys grew sideburns because of him and all you girls loved sideburns because of him! And who didn't love him in "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer"??? The original and BEST!!! :)

Tee hee hee!

A Little Of Me Here... A Little Over There

One of the down parts of moving is that for a couple of days you're whole life is in two parts. I have some of me still in Bountiful and a little bit in Salt Lake City. And the worst of it is... right now I'm pretty much ALL in boxes!

Just a few minutes ago I wanted to cut a hangnail. Simple really. Just get the nail clippers and done and done. The problem? I have NO idea where the nail clippers are??? I have a few boxes I THINK they are in... but is a hangnail worth the effort of digging and digging through everything? After days and days of packing and cleaning, I'm afraid the answer, at least for me, is no.

The good news is, after a long day of cleaning and packing, everything that should be in a box, basically is. And everything that should be cleaned, done and done. I still have a little vacuuming to do and a quick mop of the kitchen... but basically, old house is done! Yay! Tomorrow we are going to be focusing on starting to get the new house put together. I don't have a SINGLE box unpacked yet. Blast! But I think this is going to be the fun part. Now I can decide where I want everything to go. At least for me that's fun. Or at least it seems like it's going to be fun right now... Hmmmm... I'll let you know in a couple of days. :)

In other news... I think Kitty is getting suspicious that something is up. She's been fine the last few days, but today she was hissing up a little storm and yelling at me like she was pretty pissed at the world. She keeps walking around sniffing everything and giving me the evil eye. Don't worry though. Her bark is WAY worse than her bite. And she wouldn't DARE do anything to her mommy!!! I'm sure when it's bedtime she'll grudgingly climb up and cuddle.

For now... she's sniffing and I'm getting ready to watch something mindless... anyone have any suggestions of something wonderful I don't have to think about?

Yummy, Yummy Pie!

I would just like to give a shout-out to the yumminess that is pie! I love all kinds of pie. Really, pie and I are the greatest of friends. Tonight's love though is specifically being sent out to Hostess Pies. The company website says it all...

And I quote:

"There's nothing more American than apple pie, but millions of Americans would argue about their favorite flavor of Hostess Fruit Pies. Apple, cherry, pineapple, lemon, blackberry, strawberry, French apple - a trip to the snack cake aisle can be like visiting a country fruit stand.

Heat them up and let the fruit filled aroma fill the house. Put them out for dessert, serve them a la mode, or put a package in a lunch box - it's as easy as pie. However you serve them, they won't be around for long. No one can hold a Hostess Fruit Pie in their hands without making them disappear. "

They really are SO great!!! I cleaned and packed a lot today. I even got all my laundry done. And as a reward, I knew I deserved a pie. So even though I was ready to just stick at home for the night- off I went and got myself a yummy Hostess Cherry pie! How could I not?!?

If you're not familiar with these pies, or have forgotten how wonderful they really are... go and get yourself one right now! I know it's late- but you'll be so happy you did when you eat!

Three cheers for pie!

HIP HIP HOORAY!

HIP HIP HOORAY!!

HIP HIP HOOOOOORAAAAYYYY!!!!!!

I'm A Wimp...

That's just the fact of the matter. I've never tried to change people's minds or convince them otherwise. I have teeny tiny arms that have no muscle. Popeye I am not! His lovely girlfriend Olive Oil would MUCH better describe me...

See those arms? It's like looking in a mirror!!! (Actually the whole body looks familiar... ) ;)

Now you're probably wondering why I'm bringing this all up? For those of you who don't know, I'm moving to the great city of Salt Lake. Woo hoo! Not that I don't love Bountiful, but it's time for a change. Nothing serious. Just looking for a new adventure.

Today I started on that move. I took over two Dwight size car-loads of stuff. (Dwight is a Ford Focus Hatchback... PS) As you know, that's not a TON of stuff. It's a pretty good amount, but you probably all would have been able to do 4 or 5 rounds with it. I could barely make it through the two. In fact, a third was in the schedule- but I really was TOO tired. My arms ached like they never have before! Or haven't in a long time.

Granted, there was a long way from my car to the apt door, AND I had two flights of stairs to go up! But again... for most of you, probably not such a big deal.

So I'm here to admit once again that I'm a wimp. I'm going to sign up with a gym in Salt Lake and maybe I'll start checking out the weight room?!? I don't want Madonna arms... but I'd like to be able to lift Kitty up without breaking a sweat! (I promise, that was a joke!!! I can SO lift up Kitty. I can!!!)

PS... the packing is going well and there are plans to move more tomorrow. I'll take a couple of pictures and show you the new place. It's pretty awesome. AND it has a balcony!!! Yay!!!!! (Kristyn- that was 5 exclamation points going out to you-know-who!)

One thing I know... I'll sleep VERY well tonight! I hope I can stay awake for TMZ!!!

More of My Musings

So I thought I would share another poem with you that I wrote. I'm not sure the exact date I did this, but it was in one of my poetry classes while going to SUU. Being as I graduated in April of 2001... I believe this was probably written in 1999 or 2000. It's just more silly fun, but I hope you like it. (I think I need to take another writing class. I forgot how fun this all was.)

** Remember- this is just a first or second draft. Nothing polished.***

Prince Charming will come and take you away,
At least growing up, that's what I heard them say.
There will be many frogs for you to kiss,
And perhaps some balls you wish you could miss.
Sometimes midnight will seem to come too soon,
Or you'll wish you could hear a much different tune.
Just remember it's not the shoes or the gown,
But wearing a smile and never a frown.
Then when you meet him it will all be done,
Trials, you'll remember, as being quite fun.

Some Scary Saturday Stuff

Sometimes work is a long day of whatever. And so you need to come home and enjoy yourself and think of nothing. Tonight is one of those nights...

SO... one of the best ways to enjoy yourself is silly videos. These are two of my favorites.

This first one was done by one of Jasen's friends...

This next one we just found on YouTube... but it's just as fun!

I love where imaginations can take you. And with my dreams... I really should get my imagination out there more. Perhaps soon in a post I'll tell you about one of my dreams. But for now, have a fun Saturday night and sleep well...

Friday Fellow the Third

This weeks fine Friday Fellow I love so much I named my car after him...

Ladies and gentlemen....

MR. RAINN WILSON!!!!!

oK, my car is actually named Dwight, and I almost was going to have today's Friday Fellow be Dwight Shrute... because I really do love him so! You see, no one else out there goes after what he wants quite like Dwight. He's sort of my hero because he doesn't let anyone's thoughts or opinions sway him. He believes what he believes and he knows what he knows. He likes what he likes and he grows what he grows. (He just grows beets... but I wanted to rhyme. It was more fun!) Sure he gives into Micheal Scott WAY more than he should, but he's doing it with the best of heart. And shouldn't we really all be that way?!?

But as I said at the beginning... I've decided that I'm paying tribute to Rainn Wilson because he really is adorable! You know EXACTLY what I mean if you've seen him in any interviews. SO funny and actually, pretty darn cute.

I've always said that my favorite quality in someone is a sense of humor. If you can make them laugh, you've won my heart, lickety split. Rainn Wilson does that. He gets me laughing and then I have no option but to sigh.

Case in point... he was MILES above Josh Duhamel in the second "Transformers" movie!!! ;) oK... but he was cute!

So remember that boys! Maybe the way to your heart is through your stomach... but the way to our hearts is through laughter! Well at least for me...

Late night chats...

For the past week or so I've had some wonderful night-time chats with some very good friends of mine. There is something so great about chatting the night away. It's refreshing and pretty therapeutic. It's amazing what comes out once you've already got the chatting going on. Especially when it's long into the night and the crickets are chirping away. (Why is cricket chirping so relaxing?)

I almost feel more refreshed at 11:00pm after I've talked the night away than I do some mornings after a good night's sleep... Somehow the night helps the secrets come out and the friendships grow. I feel myself getting closer and closer to the person as the minutes tick by. And the memories that are made... I know it's such a cliche, but some of them really are priceless.

Thank you to my friends who let me tell them my secrets. And even more to those who trust me with their's. I once heard someone say that trust is harder to get than love. I fully believe and agree with that. So to you that I trust... you know I love you, but know that you have a place in my heart that not many see.

And now I'm done being sentimental... Sometimes you just have to! :)

PS...

One of my BFFs said I was slacking with my blogs...

Well my friend, and you know who you are, just wait till Thursday!!! Amazing times are ahead!

To you I give XOXO! :)

Seriously Brett...

Brett Favre!

What are you thinking?!? C'mon. Yes, we were all in wonder when you retired and then went and joined the Jets. A dumb move, but sometimes people second guess leaving. Of course, you could have gone back to Green Bay where you belong... but again, second guesses happen.

Now though... you have made the most idiotic move a football player could make. Seriously! The Vikings? Do you not have any sense of hometown pride??? You're going and playing for the enemy! Tsk tsk...
My heart is hurting, but I'll always love Green Bay. I'm sorry that you aren't going to part of that love anymore. The Brett Favre binder I carried through my school years at SUU... well, just another memory of good times in the past. Sigh...

GO GREENBAY!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no! Oh no!

I know it's past Monday... but just barely. And really, I'm a firm believer that a day doesn't end till you fall asleep... So to those of you who work graveyards, it's not the next day till you go to bed... even if you go to bed at 9:00 in the morning. I used to work graveyards, so I can say that. :)

So it is after midnight, and I've had a very busy day of cleaning and chatting with friends. It's been great. Jimmy Fallon is playing shuffleboard with Ryan Reynolds right now... what could be better???

As I haven't given much thought to what I'm even saying or doing right now, I'd like to leave you with something to ponder. I've been doing some pondering lately... and I would like you to join me. So ponder this till my next entry (which will be tomorrow, Tuesday)...

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

OR

Is laughter really the best medicine?

OR

In all honesty... which path is better? The one less travelled or the one many people have followed or are already on?

Discuss.

My husband list

I go to a Single's Ward. And as you can imagine, sometimes the topic of conversation is marriage. Hurray for all of us!

Part of the lessons today were what we want in a spouse. They were even talking about making a list of what we're looking for in our significant other. I decided to make a list and share it with you. If you know of anyone that fits ALL the bill, please pass him on...

1. Plays lots of practical jokes.

2. Rides a motorcycle.

3. Owns a large yacht in Italy.

4. Has prematurely grayed.

5. Has a famous aunt.

6. Has starred in a trilogy.

7. Likes to tilt head and wink.

8. Is friends with Brad Pitt.

9. First name is George.

10. Last name is Clooney.

Whatever.

A Pact

I'm moving at the end of August. I found a great apartment on Capitol Hill with a bathroom who's walls look like a quilt. It's small, but I love it, and I CAN'T wait to get moved in there. As goes with moving, I've begun the long, tedious project of packing. Within this is a lot of time going through stuff. Stuff I had forgotten I even owned having lived in my current residence for the last 5 1/2 years. Stuff I'm not even sure why I kept in the first place!!! Granted, it's been very fun looking and remembering some of my treasures. For instance, I forgot all the little knick-knacks I kept on my desk at Excel when I worked there. I just went through the box and found funny pictures we had made and put up on the wall. One where BP had recut a "Work and the Glory II" poster which originally said "Every dream has a price", but this one now said "Every price has a dream!". This is a fun story for Excellians everywhere... and I'll leave it with them to remember.

While there are quite a few things I love and am keeping, like I said earlier, there is TONS I have no idea why I have. And being that my new bachelorette pad (do girls have those???) is much smaller, stuff needs to be gotten rid of. Some of this is very therapeutic, and some is a little sad. But it's a time for new beginnings and changes. And getting rid of old junk is just what I need right now. Maybe getting rid of some physical junk will help me rid of some other stuff too. Nothing serious, but I just think it's time for a new view out my window. And this place has a balcony!!! Woo hoo! And really... Kitty needs a new backyard to look at!

So here's my pact. We'll see how well I can keep it. I promise that I WILL NOT keep so much junk this time around. I'll be strong and throw things away unless they are THE most awesome items in the world. Or the funniest memories... c'mon, I can't change that much overnight.

In six months, I'll let you know how this goes.

Keep your fingers crossed...

Friday Fellow Take 2

So today's fine Friday Fellow is someone I've loved for a long, long time. I'm sure you all know who it is and probably assumed he would have been my very first last week... I've loved him since I was 9, and knowing how little I like commitment ;), this is one relationship I don't think I'll ever be able to give up! (Though lately he's been looking a little too grandpa- I'll still love him so.) So without further ado... The Friday Fellow who will always be #1 in my heart:

RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON!!!!!!!!

Why do I love him so and for so long? Who knows why anyone loves anyone... You just do. You do what the heart tells you to do. C'mon. That crush you've had for years that never works out... really? You'd keep crushing on that person who won't give you the time of day on purpose?!? Not that Richard Dean Anderson wouldn't love me the minute he saw me... ;) Sometimes you just can't let go. And if something makes you smile... why not keep going with it. There are enough bummers in this world that you have to grab on to the good times and hold them like they are the only things that exist. oK, I'm being a bit dramatic... but really, why not just love something because it's there?
So my quote to you MacGyver...
"You love simply because you cannot help it."

My dating life...

Celebrity magazines and I are dating... VERY seriously. I have lunch with them everyday at work, and even sneak over for a visit or two during the day. Sometimes our relationship is on the sly and other times we go out on group dates (being read by many or a few magazines at a time.) I love celebrity magazines because it's always so dramatic and I never know what's going to be on the next page. It's definitely the most surprising relationship I've ever had! Often we agree exactly, and but there are times I can barely read on because I can't believe what they've just said!!! I love that my magazines will tell me the latest on who's dating who and where they went to dinner, but at the same time, they just can't shut up about the same old topic. How often do I have to hear about Brangelina? (Though thank you for not being jealous when I stare at the pictures of Brad or George a little too long...) Sometimes they don't get the facts straight, but I think they are trying too hard to impress me, and sometimes get a little zealous. (If Jennifer Aniston were pregnant every time they say she was- she'd have more kids than OctoMom!)

How do I love thee celebrity magazines?
Let me count the ways...

I love you because even though I shouldn't have written this whole blog in one paragraph, I know you'll still be there for me week after week with new and exciting news.

I love you because you never care if I eat with my mouth open while we are together, or if I have to put you aside for awhile to help someone else out.

I love you because you just make me happy. As simple as that.

Wordless Wednesday

So I saw this on my friend Jenny's blog... From what I can find, bloggers are just putting a picture up and calling it good for the day. Is this right Jenny? I'm ready to jump into the blogging world with both feet-- so I'll give this a try. If there is something more I should be doing, let me know... I'm trying so hard to be cool!

My Baby... an alien?

Some favorite quotes...

I'm a wee bit tired tonight... bookstores can be so draining! ;)

For today's good times, I'm going to share with you three quotes I really like:

"You're dresses should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady." - Edith Head

"Our lives improve only when we take chances- and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves."

"Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana." - Groucho Marx

Learn from my stupidity...

Today I have won the award they give to idiots all across America! Boo me! Here's what happened: (That was a little shout out to Monk...)

Just in case you don't know, I work at Barnes & Noble. It's a fun place, with great people, and we're all pretty outgoing. It's basically a work place full of me. We're usually not shy about anything... until today apparently.

So at one point during my shift today, I looked outside and saw this guy in a red ball cap messing around with the steering wheel of a car. He was inside and I really thought he just must be having some kind of car trouble. I called up two fellow co-workers to get their opinions. They agreed with me. The fact of the matter is, we were all being shy and following the old, lame rule of "minding your own business". But, c'mon! The guy was leaning halfway out the window at certain times. He was looking around like a guilty man... not someone waiting for his mom to come out of Michael's. Alas... we still didn't say anything.

Many hours later, I looked out into the parking lot again and there were 4 cop cars surrounding the aforementioned car, and a little family. None of which was the poor, little guy in the red ball cap. (Please hear the sarcasm...) I did go out at this time and tell what we had witnessed and apologized for not doing anything sooner.

I'm trying hard to believe that it was a mistake anyone would have made... but really, it was because we were all too chicken. I guess this same guy tried to steal a car down the street, so they had better eye witnesses, but still! I felt like such a dork! I mean really, what was the worst that could have happened? The police would have shown up and the guy would have thought we were idiots for thinking he was stealing his own car?!?

Luckily the car wasn't damaged and they all drove it away... but my oh my.

What I have learned? I will from now on ALWAYS send out the Bat Signal... So you little jokesters, beware!!!

In better news... the cop asked for my number and I'm pretty sure he's going to call and ask me out!!! (That's a joke... I know it was for witness purposes... I'm not that slow with dating... well, not totally...)

Little creative me...

I thought today I would share a little bit of the creative side of me... So I'm going to share a poem with you that I wrote.

Mary had a little lamb
It's fleece was white as snow...

Kidding! (Like you really thought I had written that...) :)

K, here's a real poem from me to you.

This is a poem I wrote many years ago based on a poem read in a certain movie. I'm kind of shy that I did it... but it was fun to do. Some of you may know who this goes to... but for those of you who don't- it was totally MacGyver! No really...

I hate the way you hair falls in your eyes,
I hate the way you think you give me butterflies,
I hate your voice, your laugh, your smile,
I hate the way your attention is on me for awhile.

I hate that you joke with me, even when it isn't funny,
I hate that you can make my cloudy days seem sunny,
I hate you looking at me when you do the things you do,
But most of all I hate the fact that I really don't hate you.

That's a first draft... as most of my poems are written. Someday I should go back and touch them all up. But, more often than not, I'm just writing them to get out my feelings at the time. Not necessarily that I'm planning on getting them published.

So there you go. A little part of me.
